An architect of Polish origin. After completing his academic studies in Vienna, he worked as an
assistant to Karl Hasenauer on the construction of the Vienna Opera House. He visited the Zsolnay
Factory in Pécs in 1882. In 1883 he married Júlia, the younger daughter of Vilmos Zsolnay. In
addition to being an extremely productive designer at the Zsolnay Factory, he also became involved in
the firm’s artistic management. From 1900 until his death he supervised the production of
architectural ceramics.
