Hungarian goldsmith. His works first received public attention at the Christmas Exhibition in 1898,
held at the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts, where he showed his enamelled works (cloisonné,
painted, etc.) and his ’’cloudy enamel” designs. He engaged in the design as well as the execution of
vessels, jewellery cases, etc. At the Paris International Exhibition of 1900 the enamel workshop of
Rapaport and Co. (Budapest, Héderváry utca 2.) exhibited objects designed by Sándor Nagy, Ödön
Faragó and Gyula Háry, as well as portraits in the Limoges style. He was most celebrated for his socalled
’’cloudy enamel”, which produced a marble-like effect and resembled Zsolnay’s ’’eozine”
glaze. He was able to cover large round surfaces with this glaze. This special technique earned him
reputation abroad, too. In 1900 he was among the artists exhibiting at La Maison Modeme on the
occasion of the Secessionists ’ 8th Exhibition of held in Vienna. He was awarded a gold medal in
1902 at Turin. Well- known artists, such as Maurice Dufréne and Georges de Feure, designed frames
for his ornamental dishes. A document issued in 1905 gave the location of his activities as ’’Formerly
Budapest, now Paris”. He probably died in France.
