The Hungarian painter and graphic artist Henrik Pap was a student of Ludwig Löfftz at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in 1882, where he learned painting as well as the technique of copperplate engraving. He returned home in 1889 and continued his artistic studies starting in the next year at the master school of Gyula Benczúr. He soon became a well-known painter and won numerous awards at exhibitions in Hungary and abroad.
