Ceramic and porcelain artist.
She was born in Budapest in 1973.
She graduated in 2002 with a specialization in ceramics from the Department of Silicate Design at the Hungarian University of Arts and Design (today: Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design). In 2012, she received a DLA degree from the Doctoral School of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
From 2006 to 2013, she taught in the Department of Silicate Design at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, and from 2013 to 2017, she was a lecturer at the Budapest Metropolitan University. From 2019 to 2021, she was an adjunct professor in the Design and Art Media Institute of the University of Pécs.
She has made extended study trips to Japan as well as the United States of America, where she has studied in the workshop of Frederick L. Olsen.
Her work is defined by a synthesis of fine art, design, and craft. In her ceramics studio, Nema Studio, she works with high-fire materials and has her own high-temperature wood-fired kiln. In addition to autonomous artworks, she creates unique serving sets for gourmet restaurants in her studio.
Her book Magas hőfokon: Közelítések a fatüzes kerámiához (Fired up high: Approaches to wood-fired ceramics) (Budapest: Scolar, 2013) is a seminal work in Hungarian on the aesthetics of wood-fired ceramics.
Since 2012, she has been a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (AIC-IAC, Geneva).
Most important professional distinctions include the Hungarian Design Award (2003), the László Moholy-Nagy Design Scholarship (2003-2005), the Noémi Ferenczy Prize (2013), and an award at the National Ceramic Art Biennial, Pécs, Hungary (2021).
She has a fellowship at the Hungarian Academy of Arts for the period 2020-2023.
