Painter, designer, teacher. He was given a teaching post at the Budapest School of Artistic Drawing in
1889, then became the director of the Budapest School of Applied Arts in 1915. He published articles
on the applied arts in the Hungarian periodical Díszítőművészet during this period. Leather wofks
played a very important role in his art. His wife, Ilona L. Gyárfás, was also engaged in this craft.
From 1917 until 1929 he taught ornamental design and art history at the Budapest University of
Technical Sciences.
