French ceramist. He was trained in his father’s workshop in Vallauris; later he and his brother,
Honoré Delphin (1836-1907), took over the management of the same workshop. At the Paris
International Exhibition of 1878 he exhibited ceramics which he had made together with the French
ceramist Optat Félix Milet (1838-1911). He built his own workshop producing artistic ceramics in
1883, in Golfe Juan, in the vicinity of Vallauris. He manufactured his first lustre-glazed ceramics in
1886. From 1887 until 1895 this workshop was managed by the French painter and graphic artist,
Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer (1865-1953.) At the Paris International Exhibition of 1889 the Massier-style
lustre-glazed ceramics were awarded a gold medal. The unique products of the workshop were well
received at several international exhibitions - e. g., at the Paris International Exhibition of 1900.
