Maróti (Rintel), Géza (1875 - 1941)

Architect, sculptor, designer. At the beginning of his career he produced ornamental sculptures. His works decorate the facade of many important buildings in Budapest, including the Gresham Palace, the Credit Bank and the Hungarian Commercial Bank of Pest. The Hungarian pavilion at the Milan World Exhibition in 1906 (burned down and rebuilt) was his most successful project. Together with Dénes Györgyi, he designed the permanent Hungarian pavilion at the Venice Bienniale in 1909. After 1920 he was commissioned to design large-scale interiors – e. g., for Rockefeller Centre in New York and the Teatro Nációnál in Mexico City.
