Architect, designer, graphic artist. In 1913 he founded the Budapest Workshop. His early graphics
were executed in Modem Style. In conjunction with the Kner Printing House, he renewed Hungarian
book design (Kner Classics, Monumenta Literarum.) In furniture design he established a distinctive
style characterized by reminiscences of Baroque, while in architecture, and especially in dwellinghouse
architecture, he followed the tenets of Functionalism. He summed up his principles in the book
Das neue Haus (Zurich, 1941).
