Porcelain artist. He was born in Debrecen in 1941. He graduated in 1965 from the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts (today: Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) in porcelain design under the guidance of master ceramicist Imre Schrammel. From 1965 until his retirement in 2001, he was a designer for the Herend Porcelain Manufactory; he remained active in the life of the factory for many years as curator of the Herend Porcelain Art Museum Foundation. Through 1978, he focused mainly on tableware design, and later he made sculptures and uniquely painted decorative objects. He is credited with the renewal of lithophane technology in Herend, which he used extensively from 1965 onwards in a wide range of art forms, from plaques to lighting fixtures and architectural elements. In 1985, he was a founding member of the Herend Studio. In 1991?1992, he was a founding member of the TERRA Group. The more important professional distinctions include awards in the Varia tableware design competition (1972); at the National Ceramics Biennial, Pécs, Hungary (1968, 1972); and at the International Ceramics Competition, Faenza, Italy (1973). He was also awarded the Mihály Munkácsy Prize (1988). His work can be found in several collections in Hungary and abroad.
