Györgyi, Kálmán (1860 - 1930)

Teacher and aesthete.  Kálmán Györgyi graduated from the Budapest Technical University and the College of Fine Art. He taught at the Budapest Iparrajziskola art school from 1882 and was its director between 1884 and 1903. He was appointed secretary of the Országos Iparművészeti Társaság (National Applied Arts Society) in 1904, and became its director in 1908. He remained in charge of the Society right up to his death in 1930. He also joined the editorial staff of the magazine Magyar Iparművészet, of which he became deputy editor in 1897 and editor in 1907. He died in Budapest in 1930.
