Czeschka, Carl Otto (1878 - 1960)

Graphic artist and illustrator. A member of the Secession and Wiener Werkstatte groupings. His illustrations for the Niebelungenlied are regarded as masterpieces of book art. In addition to his graphic works and book illustrations (made for the publishers Gerlach und Schenk, e. g.), he was active in various branches of the applied arts, enriching tectonic forms with playful and fantastic ornaments.
