Tapestry - with the coats of arms of the Scherffenberg and Thurn-Valsassina families

The basic colour is a dark greenish-black. The framework is decorated with bouquets of fruits and flowers. The coats-of-arms of the central field are surrounded with flowery vases in the corners and along the sides with flowers and smaller bouquets. Their contours are followed by black shading, so that the colours seem to be brighter than they are. The tapestry shows the influence of the medieval "mille fleurs" tapestries, according to the style of 17th century German and Netherlandish tapestries with coats- of-arms. According to the investigations of Erno Tompos, the coat-of-arms of the Scherffenberg family and their relatives are to be seen on the tapestry. In the middle, on the left, is the coat of the Scherffenberg Counts, on the right that of the Thurn-Valsassina Counts. Between them is a wreath starting from a branch with a laurel wreath and ending in a gold crown above. The coats-of-arms from the bottom, to the left are: 1st and 3rd — the Baron Pollheim, 2nd and 4th — the Eckharzau family, 5th — the Counts of Corbavien. From the bottom to the right: 1st — Count Schilck, 2nd — Count Gleichen, 3rd — Count Mansfeld, 4th — Count Yssenburg, 5th — Count Nassau-Catzenellenbogen.
