The tankard recalls the Renaissance apostle cups, which were fairly popular stoneware dishes made in Creussen and used for drinking beer. The jointed, round foot supports a bulging body, decorated in the middle with the figures of Christ and the apostles, between rings. Their names are engraved on the ribbons above them: S PETERSVS / S. ANDREAS / S. JACOB MAIOR / S. JOHANNES / S PHILIPPVS / S. BARTHOLOMEVS / S THOMAS / S. MATTHEUS / S. JACOB MINOR / S. SIMON / S. JUDAS THADVS/ S. MATTHIAS.

There is an inscription in Gothic letters under the figure of Christ: drinck und J. S. gott nicht vergiá (Drink and do not forget Jesus Christ).

The handle is stout, decorated with a female grotesque and an egg- shaped tumbler. The lid is jointed, with a bishopal escutcheon with swords, showing a crosier, mitre and stole, in an empty cartouche.
