Circular foot divided into four parts at the rim of the lip and on the stepped cover is a decoration of bands, rosettes, foliage and shells, on an embossed base. It has a cone finial surrounded with foliated rosettes. The handle is moulded, ending in a griffin head, with a voluted thumbpiece. The representations of the ivory carving covering the body are of Neptune and his court. According to József Diner-Dénes, this work was made by a South-German workshop under Roman influence. The marks are on the rim of the foot and on the cover.
