It stands on four cast claws. The circular, sloping, stepped foot is decorated with volutes and foliage. The ivory body tapers, with a carved scene: Neptune amusing himself with naiads and tritons with water weed and dolphins around them. There is a narrow stepped rim above. On the domed cover is an engraved ornament of shells and foliage with the kneeling figure of a naiad letting down her hair. The master's mark and mark of the town of Augsburg are on the rim of the foot and the cover.
