The border is surrounded by a green frame and decorated with alternating tulips and green pomegranates among flowery foliage, on a red ground. The dark blue base of the surface is filled with symmetrical plant motifs: beige and blue rosettes, connected with curved, leafy tendrils, with small trees and foliage springing out of blue rosettes on the two sides.
Pieces known as "Hammersmith carpets" - just like the one described above - were made in W. Morris's workshop near his home in Hammersmith, for the Morris & Co. "The Little Flower" and the "Small Barr" patterns were variants of "The Little Tree" William Morris used the motifs and colours of Persian and Indian rugs with all the three.
