A man in ragged cloths stands on a round base with moulded sides. He holds an axe with his right hand on his shoulder his left hand is in a sling and there is a pack on his side.
The naturalistic figure made from the combination of wood and ivory has several analogous copies in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich, and in the Tiroler Landesmuseum, Innsbruck, and in other important public collections.
