The square front is framed by roll-work with a mask on top in the middle. The middle field depicts a seated woman, sniffing the scent of a plant that she holds on her right knee. She sits on a brick bench a dog tries to get at the plant. Behind the figure is a flower in a carafe standing on the bench. The scene is a symbol of one of the senses, 'smell'. Companion piece: Inv. No. 52.3648.
