Enamelled scroll and shell motifs decorate the gold setting of the mother-of-pearl plinth, which forms a hill. There is an enamelled lizard, a snail and a frog at the side and sedge leaves at the top. The stork of a Baroque pearl body, with spread wings, stands over this small hill. The cloisonné enamel decoration of the bird, imitating the real colour of the feathers, is replaced by white enamel, painted over with gold. The bird figure was most likely inspired by the various water birds on Renaissance pendants.
