A diagonal pattern is repeated on the surface: a round medallion with geometrical motifs inside, enclosed by rosettes and plaits. There are two birds with spread wings above the medallions, holding a five-pointed lily coronet in their beaks.

A similar fabric can be found in the Viennese Österreichisches Museum für Angewandte Kunst (Inv.No. T.2606 see: Angela Völker: Historische Dekorstoffe und ihre mittelalterlichen Vorbilder. In: Alte und moderne Kunst, 28. /1983/ (Nr. 186-187), 1-7:4., pict 7. - see here).

The pattern follows a fourteenth century Italian model, which is now also in the Viennese museum (see Völker 1986 p.6, Inv.No. T.802).

The pattern of this fourteenth century silk is illustrated in Fischbach 1874 plate 151/E.
