The middle cornice is decorated with narrow strap work surmounted with carved palmettos and fan motifs. It hides two drawers. The front of the two-door sideboard is divided by three Ionic pilasters decorated with acanthus, feathers and palmettos. The outer border of the doors are lines of cut rosettes the inner border is a narrow plait of straps. The straight top cornice is decorated with lines of eggs cut in half. The inlays of the doors show a lion's head and a female mask in a cartouche. The sides are with carved foliage motifs. A similar piece is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and a companion one in the Paris Louvre. The structure and the motifs of decoration both show the influence of Du Cerceau's (1512-1582) furniture pattern book, published in Paris in 1550 (cf. Du Cerceau 1872, pi. 19).
The lower part was added in 1968 taking as a model its companion piece in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
