Nature was the inspiration for the piece entitled Törés II. (Fracture II) in the series Törés (Fracture), which earned Szalai the grand prize at the 7th National Ceramics Biennial in 1982 (Pécs).
The work bears the badges of deconstruction with its regular and irregular forms and its lacerations along the fractures, reminiscent of the eroded surfaces of ice blocks and mountain ridges.
