Rug - Narcissus stems between beech bushes

According to the Scherrebek pricelist this tapestry of thick and rough wool was hung on the wall under a window. Due to this function, the material, the warp density and the motifs are different from tapestries designed for other wall surfaces. There are straight narcissus stems between the bushes, in a strictly symmetrical arrangement. Instead of the characteristic curved or bent line, the stylized way of decoration stresses the geometrical lines of the tapestry technique. Folkloric influence can be detected in the use of terracotta, light green, yellow and blue shade simple shapes and unshaded surfaces, enhanced by the geometric rosette line at the bottom of the tapestry. Possibly eleven copies were made of this tapestry.
