Ring

The ring consists of seven silver circles, twined at the bottom. Three of these rings are plain, and four are fluted on the rim. The head is enriched with almandine and pearls, with a turquoise calcedon in the middle. All stones are set with claws, and arranged in a cross. It was made by Adolf Roger, who very rarely marked his pieces, thus there is not much in literature about him. He is mentioned in Mihalik, József's: Az ötvösség (Goldmsith's Art). In. Az iparművészet Könyve (The Book of Applied Arts, Bp., 1912, p.124.): ...up to the nineties, our goldsmiths have achieved their greatest results with the copy of old jewel and thus they have managed to preserve and revive the national character of Hungarian applied arts. Such pieces put Adolf Roger and other goldsmiths of Budapest above the average.
