Printed in dark red over a light red base. The surface is covered with rosy boughs, enriched with wavy, diagonal foliage of parallel, stylized, leafed peonies. One of William Morris' patterns that were named after rivers. A block printed velvet colour variant can be found in the Musees Royaux du Cinquantenaire in Brussels (see Cat. 1927 No. 428), while its other, printed calico versions are in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the collections of the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow and in the City Museum and Art Gallery of Birmingham. The original pattern drawings can also be found in the Birmingham Museum.
