The indigo-coloured surface is covered with discharged, white scrolling vine tendrils, enriched with alternating peonies, acanthus leaves and sunflowers placed on four parallel, wavy tendrils. The pattern was registered on 18th October, 1883 it was later realised in printed velveteen and silk fabrics as well. Further pieces can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the Zurich Kunstgewerbemuseum (Inv.No. 6434). Its silk damask companion piece is now in the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. The original designs and wooden blocks can be found in the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow, while the sketches are in the collection of the Museum and Art Gallery of Birmingham.
