Contoured with dark ochre against a white base, the pattern is printed in light beige, ochre, light blue and two shades of green. The fabric is decorated with parallel vertical areas of thick wavy vines enriched with lilies-of-the-valley. There are narcissus stems and forget-me-not boughs springing from the vines that are embraced by tulips with curved stems and huge blossoms. Further copies and colour variants can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the Textilmuseum of Krefeld (see Cat. 1977b No. 4 - which is there - erroneously - regarded to be the last design of William Morris). The original pattern drawing and the wooden blocks are now in the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow.
