The front is divided into three fields. There is an inscription in the bottom one: FELEJTHETETLEN ELNÖKÉNEK - RÁTH GYÖRGY - A MAGYAR IPARMŰVÉSZETI TÁRSULAT [To its unforgettable chairman - Gy.R. - Hungarian Society for Applied Arts]. The date 1828-1905 is written at the top, in the middle. The central field shows the portrait of György Ráth, looking to the left.

Back: The picture is divided into three fields. The middle one bears the inscription HIT LAKTA SZIVÉT ÉS NAGY AKARAT, MINDEN JAVA A NEMZETÉ MARADT [rough translation: Belief and a strong will lived in his heart - all his belongings now enrich his nation]. To the left, there are two women sewing, to the right, two workers standing beside the turn lathe.

The plaque shows György Ráth, the second chairman of the National Hungarian Society for Applied Arts, who was also director of the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts between 1881-1896, and the editor of "The Book of Applied Arts”. The Ráth György pla- quette competition was launched in 1907, the first prize (2000 koronás) and the commission was won by Fülöp Ö. Beck. The plaque is published in Huszár-Procopius 1932 No. 872. Its silver and bronze copy was exhibited at the 1924 medal and plaque exhibition in the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts (No. 1465). Its picture is published in Magyar Iparművészet Vol.13, 1910, Nos. 283-284 (p. 231). There are three copies in the medal Collection of the HNM, Inv.Nos. 195/1915-1., 50/935-103., 21/972-47.
