Both sides of the cover are embroidered around three edges. According to Gertrud Palotay, the curving motifs of the cover show the influence of the 16th century velvet cushion covers of Brussels. The lower part of the curves is formed of two Turkish styled leaves with serrated edges. Each curve holds alternating motifs of tulips or pinks, surmounted by geometrical or hemispherical motifs. In spite of the clear oriental influence, "the spirit and the execution of the decoration is Hungarian, although partly Western. If we did not know the original oriental models for the motifs, we would say it has to do nothing with Turkish style" says Palotay. This cover is one of the most beautiful remnants of the Transylvanian "floral Renaissance". It is said to have been owned by Kata Bethlen, wife of Mihály Apafi II, prince of Transylvania. A linen border with similar embroidery can be found in the Hungarian National Museum.
