Pendant

The arrow shape of the pendant is similar to the piece with Inv.No. 6821, which proves that the two pieces were probably made at the same time. The black, heart-shaped bottom part is enriched with lobes on the two bottom sides, and with red lobes at the top. The top part holds a double ring. The middle of the light green stem is enriched with two groups of three stylized leaves, bent towards each other, and two other ones on the wire stem, bending out to the ring. The surfaces of the black and light green enamel are grit. This piece is probably a sample piece of Oszkár Tarján's enamel experiments. There are no traces of shanks or pendent pearls, which supports that this pendant was a decorating element on another goldsmith's piece (similar to the cup decorated with pendant 9.177). This pendant belongs to the Hungarian- style, enamelled jewelleries of Oszkár Tarján, although their folkloric origin can hardly be detected owing to the strongly stylized nature of the motifs. It was exhibited at the 1902 International Applied Arts Exhibition in Turin.
