The large, cup-shaped body stands on a round, narrow foot. The spindle-shaped neck ends in a splaying, horizontal, jointed top rim. The surface is covered with spotted red glaze, following Chinese oxblood glaze. The vase is, however, different from Chinese models the inherent beauty of the spots fading from green to red during reduced firing is emphasized by the rouge flammé (flame-red) glazes invented in Sevres. The little spots left green in the glaze serve as tiny flowers on the gold-painted tendril. The delicate, veil-like garland on the surface of the glaze creates three curves at the shoulder line. The top rim is lined with bluish-green crystallized copper spots.
