The sides of its body, widening towards the bottom, the bottom rectangular fields of its back, and the triangular inlays below the dial are decorated with a Hungarian style inlay. Its round dial has green and white enamelling the decoration around the dial is made of an embossed copper plate. Its pendulum, behind the triangular glass, is heart-shaped, while its three weights are shaped like ellipses. The top clock case has two side doors.
Frigyes Spiegel, architect and applied artist, a significant Hungarian partaker of the Belgian-French style Art Nouveau interior design of the turn of the century and the founder of the Maison Moderne interior design firm presented this clock at the 1899 Christmas exhibition of the Museum of Applied Arts with great success. Later it was one of the objects intended for exhibition at the 1900 Paris World Fair.
