The lace revives the «Italian carafe» motif of the Renaissance. It was often used on Hungarian embroideries in Hungarian folklore, especially on embroideries. Here, the lace preserves the symmetrical arrangement of the motif. Five squills spring from stylized vases, with alternating palmettes springing from twined stems in between. The lace was begun in Halas and was probably brought to Budapest, where it received the paper note.
