The ink-stand is in the form of a cupboard with a mirror. It consists of two parts: a chest of drawers, the drawers of which can be pulled out and a mirror of two opposing S-shapes, fitted to the back side of the chest. The upper corners of the mirror are decorated with volutes, with a vase on top of each the lower corners show putti, sitting on volutes and playing the trumpet and the horn. The top of the chest has relief ornaments: a canon with cannon-balls on each side, to hold the pens, and a drum on each side for the ink and the powder. The middle shows a putto. The two side drawers are painted with flower motifs. The drawer in the front panel is painted with battle symbols. The two handles are formed by relief putto heads, with a ring in the mouths. The cupboard is painted in reddish-brown, imitating the veining of wood. The colours are blue, purple, yellow, manganese and green. Marked on the bottom: HH in black.
