Glass sculpture - "Rise of the wave of dawn light"

A constant and recurring theme of the glass sculptures by Gábor Gonzales for nearly a decade has been the ever-changing beauty of water. They capture the movement and endless grandeur of waves and light. Gonzales combines hot and cold glass-working techniques in his work, first melting plates of blue-pigmented flat glass (the fusing technique) and then polishing the result to eggshell finish before putting them in the furnace and bending them on – or into – metal moulds. This piece is an evocation of water with organic, curving forms, a soft blue hue and enigmatic light.
