The broader and narrower lines of the decoration consist of alternating motifs of embroidered and pinked squares, with a stylized rosette in each square. Pinked bobbin lace of white and cherry red silk runs around three of the sides. Shawls and cloths decorated with this pattern can be considered as models for the later "board cloths", very popular in 17th century Hungarian embroidery.
