The repeating pattern on the pierced, formerly white, lace-like leaf is as follows: a pair of doves is flying above a basket of flowers placed on a grid-patterned platform surrounded by leaves. On this ground, in a symmetrical arrangement, are four irregularly shaped medallions, one of the two middle ones overlapping the other somewhat. In two can be seen a young lady, in one a young man, and in the fourth a couple holding out their hands to each other. To each of the single-figure pictures is linked a small portrait two depict a man and one a woman. On the sticks grid and floral patterns alternate with each other every two sticks. On the guard-sticks is a portrait beneath a flower. Similar to MAA inv. no. 57.873. There is a kindred piece in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
