The chinoiserie scene painted on a bone-coloured ground presents circus acrobats. The leaf s two corners are filled out by a large flower and tree respectively. On the verso is the branch of a tree in winter with various flowers. In all likelihood the figural depiction follows one of the chinoiserie engravings made during the period and used widely. Its exact model is as yet unknown.
