The Oat, concave dish rests on a short foot rim. The symmetrical arabesque decoration springs from the central, painted rosette, creating a star motifs of six fields and broken curved. The inner and outer spaces are filled with two types of plant motifs. Colours: blue and black, or golden lilac iridescent silver lustre against a light pink base.

The artistic faience workshop of Ulysse Besnard was working since 1862, using mainly faience models from Urbino, Rouen, or imitating Oiron faience. They were among the first revivers of the metal lustre technique, as it is proven by the plate described above. The workshop is described in details by Jaennicke 1879 p.845.
