The simple, horizontal prismatic plinth supports a stand of laths. These, with inserted glass plates, create the sides of the cupboard. The back is equipped with a mirror to emphasize the objects that are placed on the three shelves. This cupboard shows all the typical characteristics of Biedermeier furniture at the same time it has a remarkable Gothic tracery decoration on the frames of the glass plates. A companion piece of identical size is exhibited in the Geymüller-villa, which belongs to the Österreichisches Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna (Inv.Nr. Sob.290) a third piece, made of cherry wood, is in a private collection in Budapest. According to Georg Himmelheber, the piece described above was made for export purposes, in Vienna.
