The chair stands on two cylindrical leg, resting on buns at the front and two prismatic ones at the back. The trapezoid seat is upholstered in stitched-down leather. The back support is pierced, curved, the tapering middle support is decorated with two vertical, stylised tulips. The same tulips appear on L. Majorelle's dining-room cupboard, exhibited at the 1898 Paris Salon. This chair belonged to a dining- room suite. The picture of a similarly shaped and decorated piece is published in Decorative Kunst, Vol. 2, 1898 Heft. IX, p.129, and Soulier 1898 p.10.
