The splayed oval foot is surmounted by an arch and two sea monsters among waves the cylindrical stem is surrounded by three voluted ribs, and splayed silver leaves. The elongated ship rests on all this and is also decorated on its hull with sea monsters among waves. On the deck are soldiers and two canons the stem ends in a dragon's-head handle. The hull has panels with similar decoration. The fluted sail and the ropes are supported by a mast that is topped by a ball and a double flag.
A similar piece is attributed to a Nuremberg goldsmith, Esaias zur Linden, now in a private collection in Austria.
