The paper plates are covered with thin tortoise shell, with an oval slot in the middle. The brass- framed glass plate of the slot shows a miniature, painted in tempera over an ivory plate: a lady and a gallant, dressed in rococo clothes, sitting on a garden bench. The miniature of the back shows a lady sitting in a patio in a moonlit garden, with a gallant kneeling in front of her.
The saddle is black-painted leather, with blind stamped decoration. The inside of the front plate has a glass mirror in a blue paper frame. The end papers are blue, with gilt engravings. The cover picture is a copper engraving, coloured later: Amor putting a wreath on the head of a kneeling female figure, with the inscription: Lohn / der Zärt / lichen Freund / schaft. There is a poem below the scene: Bald ist er da, der Tag der Hohen Weihe / Der Wonne Tag, an dem der Vorsicht Hand / Der Kranz - zum Preiss für Ihre Lieb' und Freude / Schon lange Ihr aus Himmelrosenband.
Nine copper engravings are bound beside the months of the calendar - gallant scenes and an engraving made by Josef Antropp (active in the late 18th century), following the models of Johann Christian Brand (1722-1795), a painter of Vienna. Marked: the first - J. Antropp Sc[ulpsit], the second Christ. Brand pinx[it]. There are 24 fashion engravings, coloured later, bound to the back of the book.
