Bed

The bed stands on four square, prismatic, splayed feet the head panel is higher, with concave cuts at the corners. The foot panel is flanked by a long pilaster of a female herm on each side. The sides join the head and foot panels in a curve. The decoration consists of ink-painted mythological scenes. The middle of the foot panel shows a cupid with a lying female figure in a geometrical field. To the right and left there is a wreath against a black background and an arrow twined with leaves. Both motifs are placed in geometrical fields. The head-panel depicts Amor, and a cart of two wheels, drawn by a winged horse, running over clouds. An allegorical female figure - Dawn (Aurora) casting off Night - stands in the cart, holding a burning torch in her left hand, and a rose-wreath in her right, with a rooster beside her.
