Herman August Kaehler
Danish ceramist. After working in Berlin and Zurich, he took over his father’s ceramics workshop in Naestved in 1872. He started to make lustred ceramics in 1888, exhibiting them at the Paris International Exhibition of 1893. He had great success at the Chicago Exhibition of 1893. His art had a stimulating effect on ceramic art in Denmark. He was a friend and colleague of Otto Eckmann. In addition to ornamented and utility ceramics, he also designed wall covers and friezes. After his death, his son took over the management of his workshop.
