Géza Nikelszky

Painter, ceramist. He studied decorative painting at the Royal Hungarian School of Applied Arts from 1892 until 1897. In 1897-98 a state scholarship enabled him to spend a year in Munich, where he studied in Simon Hollósy’s private school. In 1899 he was employed by the Zsolnay Factory to execute the ornamental tiles, designed by Ignác Roskovics, for the St Stephen Hall in the Royal Palace in Budapest. After this, he remained an employee of the Zsolnay Factory for fifty-two years. Later he wrote the company’s history and became the first curator of its museum. He mainly designed the decoration of ornamental objects and building ceramics.
