Bing & Grondahl porcelain factory, Copenhagen
Danish porcelain manufactory established in 1853. The founders were Meyer Herman Bing (1807- 1883), his younger brother Jacob Herman Bing (1811-1896) and the modeller Frederik Grondahl (1819-1856). Between 1886 and 1897 the manufactory’s artistic management was in the hands of Pietro Krohn (1840-1905); it was during his term that the organic forms, small sculptures (mostlyfeaturing animal figures) and plastically ornamented vases, each embellished using a special technique of underglaze painting, were introduced.
