Árpád Basch
Basch started out as a painter, before becoming one of the pioneers of applied graphics: he designed posters, book illustrations and picture postcards; and he was also the art director of a periodical entitled Magyar Géniusz. His book designs and decorative works (e. g., for Ferenc Herczeg’s novel ”On the Wings of the Wind”, Budapest, 1905) were in a lyrical vein.
