Inspired by French art, he drew on French-inspired plein-air Naturalism, Post- Impressionism and the style of the Fauves. He produced powerfully expressive, dramatic pictures during the First World War. Vaszary designed fabrics at the time when in his paintings he was depicting scenes from peasant life.
