Watch case

A square column rises on the two sides of the prismatic, terraced plinth. The fronts of the columns are decorated with two repousse female figures, below a finely designed string of pearls, the two columns enclose a sitting, bearded old man, who is reading a book. The round case of the clock is placed on the top corniche. There are bending laurel branches on the two sides, with Mercury's wand and a trumpet, twined with ribbons, at the top. The emblems are surmounted by a standing cock, the symbol of dawn and passing time. The bottom of the plinth is marked in antique letters: MUNKATS.
